About york.pub

Bringing the CS department and CS students together through collaborative events and projects, allowing all CS societies to work together and collectively share better resources and equipment.

Our Mission

york.pub is a groundbreaking collaborative project that unites all Computer Science societies at the University of York. We create a space for all CS students, regardless of their background or interests, fostering collaboration and resource sharing across the entire department.

What Makes Us Special

No other subject at the University of York currently operates in this collaborative manner. We're pioneering a new way for academic societies to work together, share resources, and create stronger communities.

Our Story

The Beginning (2025)

York.pub started this year with a simple newsletter - a way to better communicate all the events each society was organizing. What began as a communication tool has evolved into something much bigger.

Infrastructure Growth

Thanks to a grant from YuFund and using HackSoc's own membership funds, we installed our Freeman and Atwood servers in summer 2025. This infrastructure represents our commitment to sustainability and efficiency.
